What Innersense Claims About their Ingredients

Innersense emphasizes the use of pure, organic ingredients in their formulations. Their products are crafted with natural botanicals, essential oils, and plant-based extracts, avoiding harmful chemicals and even provide a detailed list of ingredients they use on their site.

They claim, “We actively avoid over 3,000 ingredients, complying with the strictest of clean standards—including our own. We never use harmful cosmetic ingredients or unsafe toxins, ever. Our formulas are always free from parabens, silicones, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, and misleading proprietary complexes.”

Breaking Down the Ingredients

Fragrance / Limonene / Linalool

Fragrance is usually a combination of numerous ingredients, some of which can be allergenic and endocrine disruptive especially those like Citronellol,  Geraniol, or Linalool if they are not derived from pure essential oils. Also, phthalates are likely to be present.  There are several different phthalates and some of them are possible carcinogens and hormone disruptors such as styrene. However, Innersense states their fragrances are from essential oils.

Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine

Derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil, this mild surfactant gently cleanses the hair and acts as a foaming agent with anti-static benefits. May contain residues of allergenic DMAPA and can cause eye irritation if not from reputable sources.
