A blackhead is congestion in the skin made up of oxidized dead skin cells, oil, and debris mixed together.
Why do blackheads happen?
Blackheads can be caused by build-up of dead skin cells, oil, and debris in the pores, lack of cleansing, and/or lack of regular exfoliating.
How to Treat Blackheads
01.
Wash Your Face
Clear your skin of sweat and debris to prevent excess build-up, especially after working out. Find a clean face cleanser that doesn't strip your skin of oils but cleanses the pores.
02.
Oil Cleanse
Option to incorporate a double cleanse method into your routine. This entails using an oil-based cleanser to remove make up and build-up before using a second cleanser to remove any left over debris or bacteria.
03.
Exfoliate
One to two times a week, remove the excess build-up by exfoliating with a gentle facial exfoliate. Don't over exfoliate as that can cause more harm to the skin.
04.
Mask Up
Adding a mask that contains clay will help absorb excess oil and debris on the skin without over drying it.
